Cast: Arjun Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee & Sonakshi Sinha.
Directed by: Amit Sharma.
First take: 2015 is here. Bollywood has opened its account. Big celebs have given the pseudo superman thumbs up. Of course the cozy club remains intact and the largest film industry in the world starts on a sour note.
Story: He is a combination of superman and a terminator. She is on the run from a baddie desperate to marry him. So desperate that he advertises for jockey all through the 160 minutes. The Indie terminator who doesn’t qualify for a peon’s job, self employs himself as a protector for the abla naari. Hmmm! The ‘Tevar’ is surely missing.
Star Power: What’s the new count Sonakshi? How many 100 crore films, without having to do anything? Arjun! Oh! Arjun! Now you must know, the difference between a Salman fan and the original. There is a famous Hindi proverb ‘aandhon mein kaana raja ‘ well Manoj that was directed towards you.
Behind the scenes: 900 films this man has made. Some beautiful gems like the Google reunion, it’s tough to fathom what made Amit Sharma choose a bizaare film like this? Sajid Wajid, please reinvent or perish. The rest technical team it seems slept through the movie. At 160 minutes this Tevar is so uncool.
WTF: ‘jo Chana chabate hai, woh badaam ka paad nahi maarte’. Who on earth certifies such creativity?
Editor’s Take: Been there, done that. Desperate times call for desperate measures. In a democracy like ours, it’s difficult to ban/censor such films, so now the onus lies with the audience. It’s high time we the people start rejecting such films outright. Not a good start to Bollywood 2015. The good bit though is that from here on the year can only get better.
