This preparation is one of the must-have dishes during Saraswati Puja and one of one of my favourite dishes…Kuller ombol (chutney prepared from jujube fruit )…This is how it is prepared
- 250 grams fruit
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- ½ tablespoon mustard oil
- A pinch of haldi
- A pinch of salt
- Sugar to taste
Heat the oil
Add mustard seeds. When the seeds begin to crackle, add the fruits and stir
Add haldi and stir
Add approximately two cups of water
Add a few spoons of sugar, (according to your taste buds)
Cover the preparation with a lid and cook on low flame. Ensure that the water evaporates slightly and the chutney thickens. Make sure that you do not overcook this preparation lest it becomes sour.
Add a pinch of salt and stir. Subsequently turn of the gas.
