La La Land: Movie Review

Film: La La Land. Cast: Ryan Gosling , Emma Stone & John Legend. Directed by: Damien Chazelle. Introduction:  Ladies & Gentleman, Damien is the one who made whiplash last year. Yes! The same film that was questioned by some, appreciated by the others. What makes this film stand out is the fact that it’s completely different from the director’s previous work. Unlike our folks who love the concept of ctrl c plus ctrl v. Plot: Two strugglers, one a jazz pianist and the other an actor meet by chance. They keep bumping into each other and fall in love. Ryan

ALL is FAIR in LUST and WAR: Random musings of a GoT FAN

If I had to challenge myself and try to sum up the complex world represented by Game of Thrones (GoT): People driven by their deepest desires take actions, which lead to their ultimate glory or ruin. In his own words, author George R.R Martin (GRRM) the mantra that drives his writings is the “STRUGGLE of the HUMAN HEART in CONFLICT WITH ITSELF”. What people do or fail to do to win this struggle, leads to a complex interconnected web of events often having far reaching consequences far beyond their imagination. It is also a tale of how politics works and

Sultan Review: Classic underdog story, horribly wrong

Cast: Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma & Randeep Hooda.   Director: Abbas Ali Zafar   Run time: 2 hours & 50 minutes. Introduction: Have you ever been to a Being Human store? Have you picked up a tee shirt believing the money actually goes for charity? If the answer is in the affirmative, then trust me you have done you’re bit already. Sultan is nothing but branding of his concept, better known as Being Human. Likewise his store, this film too has a wide range of collection, sorry films all merged into one. This one was supposed to be his Rocky.

Tarzan Movie Review

First of all sorry for delaying this review. I went for this movie few days back but didn’t get time to write this review.  Anyway, better late than never. I was expecting this movie to be another typical Tarzan movie but this movie really surprised me. This movie wasn’t about the Tarzan story we all know and therefore this is a must watch. This movie tells a story where Tarzan comes back to Africa from London and saves Africa. Also unlike most of the Tarzan movies this movie doesn’t portray Tarzan as someone who can not be defeated by anyone.

Movie Review: Finding Dory, Happily Ever After

Last time, it was the orange clownfish Nemo who had to be found. This time around it is Dory, the blue tang with a ‘short-term-remembery-loss’ who gets lost. A popular topic that has been bobbing about the internet these days: Will the summer of Hollywood’s sequel and prequel box-office discontent bounce back with the arrival of “Finding Dory,” Pixar and Disney’s double-dip back flip into the same animated pool of undersea beings that propelled 2003’s wondrously endearing “Finding Nemo”. Wisely, the film takes full advantage of what was “Finding Nemo’s” greatest asset besides its lushly multi-hued underwater inhabitants and plant

Praktan- Is it a slap on the patriarchal society or accepting its rigidness?

The Nandita-Shibaprasad duo has created several unostentatious movies on complex human relationships and Praktan is no exception. The movie revolves around the divorced protagonist Sudipa Sen (Rituparna Sen Gupta) who is most oftenly reminded of her haunting past relationship with Ujaan Mukherjee (Prasenjit Chatterjee). The movie, beautifully and lucidly shot in a train, portrays the conflict between the husband and the wife, while they were once in a relation and also depicts the present relationship between the husband and his present wife, played by Aparajita Audhya and his  innocent daughter. The directors also convey bitter and trustworthy conjugal lives by underlining and

Udta Punjab- All oddities against the humble city

Didn’t we read Punjab as the land of five rivers?Have Punjabis forgotten the gratefulness of Bhagat Singh and other martyrs? The movie ,Udta Punjab ,wants the audience to perceive certain loopholes contemporary Punjab possesses, which was once rich in culture and generosity, through the eyes of director,Abhishek Choubey and editor,Megha Sen. The movie ,splendidly directed, however ends abruptly. What needs to be remembered is the powerful acting of Shahid-Alia which plays a foil to the Diljit-Karina. Although the music needed to be crucial at times, yet it was praiseworthy. If one was engrossed in taking drugs and opium, the other tries his
