Lets educate our Men first

Being a resident of Delhi for 25 years I can easily conclude the following: You wear a nice fitted top and jeans, 90% of the men will stare at you. On the other hand if you are fully clad in a salwar kameez dupatta, less than 10% of them will hardly give you a second glance. Funny isn’t it. Sad, but true story. And many women I spoke to agreed to my observation. And since

35th National Games: My most memorable tournament!

As I watched the closing ceremony of the 35th National Games in Kerala on DD Sports from home, nostalgia hit my head. Just a week back I was there, in Kochi, where the Table Tennis event was held from 1-5th Feb, where I had the bestest time of my life, and now the games have ended already. Labelled as the “Mini Olympics of India”, the National Games is one such event which brings the best

Happy Valentine’s Day

We first met at high school. It was definitely not love at first sight. In a casual chat one fine day at the start of the new session, we felt we shared similar views, and somehow we knew that we could be friends. We were in the same class, same section. We would sit together during classes, study, take notes, discuss politics, sports, cinema and life. We would share our Tiffin boxes with each others

Malala Yousafzai: My Hero! A letter of Respect

When the news of you getting the Nobel Peace Prize was out in October this year, I did a Google search on you. Call me ignorant, but before that I only knew that you are the girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban.!

Are We Doing Our Bit?

So imagine this situation: You switch on the television, you are swapping through the channels and to your surprise, they are showing table tennis. Excited, you immediately take your seat on your most comfortable couch and watch passionately. So what are the first few things you notice? Who’s playing, what tournament it is, what’s the score, and of course how the players look! Deny that, but yes, everyone does notice that. And if that spectator

An emotional sendoff for the Asian Games

As I leave for the Asian Games tonight, my sister-in-law left me in tears by writing this for me.  I thank her from the bottom of my heart. Will try to live up to what she said!

The Most Important Lesson Of My Life

When I was a kid, I use to hear this sentence in the closing ceremony of all the table tennis tournaments I took part in  -“kids, winning and loosing does not matter, what matters the most is participation, and that’s why lets give a round of applause to ourselves and feel proud that we made this tournament a huge success”. I could never comprehend this and it seemed nonsensical to me. In sport we all
